Outdoor Room Project

Last Summer after finishing renovations on the farmhouse, I started planning an outdoor room project in our backyard. ย I really wanted a large natural stone fireplace and patio that would echo the farmhouse feel. My Angel landscaper (his name really is Angel) who happens to be an excellent stone mason, didn’t even flinch when he told me he could construct the space in the middle of Winter. Angel completed the project in about 8 weeks which also included three different snowstorms during the construction. He designed a makeshift greenhouse over the structure and even installed propane heaters for a temporary but toasty working area~

Jan 2011 with a foot of snow on the ground.

For the patio, random sized stone was selected for a more casual feel.

March 2011, the finished outdoor room taken during another snowstorm this past weekend.

On Friday I will be entertaining a group of friends hopefully the snow will finally stop! I will share photos of the decorated outdoor room complete with farm table placed in front of the fireplace in a few days.

Had to share this one last photo with you of Mr PracticalPants brother Mr CowboyPants standing on the porch at the farmhouse~

      Hi Anna,

Actually he is our gardener and just does this on the side. We sketched out the design and bingo he did it.

Looked all over town this week trying to find a copy of the RPS book, but no luck! Will need to order online, I guess, but I’m soooooo impatient! ๐Ÿ™‚

*sigh* that is utterly beautiful, even in winter. I can’t imagine how gorgeous it will be when spring truly shows up.
And Mr Cowboy Pants is quite handsome. Is there a Mrs. Cowboy Pants????

Carol, this is amazing! I’m in awe that your landscaper could accomplish this in the dead of winter under the “big top”, it’s just beautiful. Can’t wait to see it in it’s Spring finery.

Well you can color me green with envy! I just love this outdoor fireplace. For a long time now I’ve been wanting some sort of outdoor living space, but never seem to be able to get the idea off the ground.

I think it is supposed to be nice Friday. But your guests will be happy no matter what the weather brings.
