When it comes to giving gifts to your creative friends, a nondescript Christmas bag just does not fit the package bill. Recently I met with my two pals Amy and Deb for our annual Holiday lunch get together. Both Women are blessed with head spinning talent so I knew they would appreciate some creative wrapping on my part for their gifts.
I found some pretty handmade papers at Anthropologie which leant an organic touch to each gift. The paper on the left had large textured circles which was perfect for Amy since she is a fabric and pattern designer. For Deb’s package, I selected a red stitched cream on cream paper with a delicate ruffle. I used a piece of the same paper to craft bows for each package.
For the tags, I took a couple of vintage photos and used decorative tape to frame the edges. I’m obsessed with this tape and even used some of it to cover a small clothespin to attach the tag to one of the packages. I further embellished each gift with a few buttons, vintage earrings, red and white bakers twine, raffia and even a few sprigs of fresh greens. There is really so many possibilities when you craft with trims you probably already have on hand. Just think outside of the package~ I know that was lame;)

Last Summer Kansas City Homes & Gardens Magazine contacted me about doing an article about my farmhouse and business. I shot several photographs and sent them in and was quickly interviewed but really did not know when the article would be published. Last week I was surprised to find the current December issue had the article feature with most of the photos that I had shot included. I thought Gloria Gale the writer did an excellent job in capturing the story of our farmhouse. Here is the link for the article. For me that would have to be old mirrors, especially the unframed kind. I think mirrors are perfect to add a little glow to any room no matter what decorating style you favor. I also love to use mirrors in unexpected ways, for instance I used several as plate chargers for a Christmas table;

This is such a fabulous idea. I will now start looking locally for the unframed ones or even pulling some out of a ratty frame. I always thought placemats were too small for the large chargers we buy today, so this is the perfect answer. Your styling of these is wonderful. I especially like the etched designed mirror. I recently took a class on how to take the black paint off the back and give them more antiquing. 
What a beautiful idea. I bought a used oval mirror that was frosted in some areas, for my daughter’s wedding, and used it under the serving set for the cake and the toasting glasses. Quite a few things scream my name at flea markets, like salt and pepper shakers and cookie jars, I like to use them as canisters for sugar/flour/tea.

Oh what a perfect way to keep the garden close by all winter long! What a fabulous idea, I’m thinking I could do a mini one with my concrete cherub urn that is still out in my garden.
