My love affair with photography began in 2004 when I began blogging. I knew very little about taking photos and that was limited to a basic Canon point and shoot that I had purchased. After posting those early blog photos, I quickly realized they were really horrid and didn’t come close to what I wanted to share. Shortly after, I took the plunge and purchased my first DSLR “Big Girl Camera” a Canon Rebel and never looked back. Of course I had this really important looking piece of equipment but then what? I had no idea how to take it off of automatic and what the heck was Aperture, ISO and Shutter Speed anyway? Since I didn’t want this fancy camera to get the best of me, I became completely obsessed with learning as much as I could about photography. Taking College and online classes and soaking up every bit of knowledge I could was just what I needed. But even with all the practical education, I knew I had to simply shoot every single day and that’s just what I did. After much determination, my photos began to improve and with that I started getting requests from magazines to publish my images. In 2006 I received my first photo shoot assignment, styling and photographing a project for Artful Blogging Magazine which was the start of a whole new career path.
Fast forward to today and I feel completely blessed to be able to work as a freelance Photographer and Stylist, being able to capture images that echo my creative vision is something I will never take for granted.
